This home had been running on a 1994 AC system - and it showed. The old outdoor unit was weathered, the ductwork was undersized, and the system was working way harder than it should to keep the house comfortable. The bedrooms were getting so little airflow that the homeowner had mini splits installed in them just to pick up the slack. That's a classic sign the duct system isn't doing its job.

When we got up in the attic, the problem was clear. The old ductwork was a mix of deteriorating flex duct and undersized runs that simply couldn't move enough air through the home. Before anything new could go in, all of that had to come out. We redesigned the entire duct layout from scratch so the new system would actually perform the way it's supposed to.

We installed a new AC Pro Z-Series heat pump - both the air handler in the attic and the outdoor condenser unit at ground level. The air handler is mounted cleanly on a new platform with proper condensate drainage and fully sealed connections. The new duct runs are properly sized, suspended, and insulated throughout the attic space. Everything was done with the next 20-plus years in mind, not just a quick swap.

Here's the part that matters most - because the ductwork was redesigned correctly, all the bedrooms now get proper airflow from the main system. The mini splits that were there to patch the problem? No longer needed. That's what a real duct replacement paired with a properly sized heat pump can do. You're not just replacing equipment, you're fixing the root cause.

A lot of HVAC installs just swap out equipment without addressing why the old system struggled in the first place. Undersized ductwork, poor layout, and aging systems all work against each other. When you fix all of it together - the equipment, the ductwork, the airflow design - the whole house performs like it should. That's the difference between a patch job and a real fix.
